Write the Risk Before You Draw the Entry
Traders often mark targets first. Flipping the order—stop and size before entry—changes how setups look.
In Setup Risk Studio we ask students to freeze the chart once a technical idea appears, then answer three questions before any entry line: where is the idea wrong, how wide is that distance, and what size keeps the loss within the day’s limit. Only then do we talk about where to get involved.
The order matters. When the entry comes first, stops get squeezed to protect a preferred risk figure, and invalidation becomes decorative. When risk comes first, some attractive setups simply disappear—and that is useful information. Practice on historical charts with a timer: two minutes for risk language, then decide whether the trade still deserves ink.
